Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, claims that the Department of State Service (DSS) didn’t allow him to visit Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. Even though Sowore had an invitation, he couldn’t meet Kanu. He shared this on his social media account.

Sowore had been invited to visit Kanu, and there was a list of people set to see him on that day. Sowore spent a lot of time at the DSS headquarters in Abuja, but they said he couldn’t see Kanu. This has happened before when he was invited to visit Kanu after he was taken from Kenya.

Sowore thinks this shows that the government doesn’t tolerate people who are peacefully asking for self-determination. He compared some politicians to the current president and criticized them for not being different in their actions.

This isn’t the first time Sowore was denied access to Kanu, even though he was invited in September 2022.

Kanu, the leader of IPOB, was arrested in 2015 on various charges, including terrorism and treasonable felony. He’s currently facing trial for these charges, which were brought against him by the government. The court dropped some charges, and now he’s facing seven of them.
