The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has issued a warning that some students may not receive their results for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The reason, according to JAMB, is that some of the results have been withheld.

The examination body blamed the non-release of some 2022 UTME results on examination malpractices, misconduct, procedural violations, and an incomplete review of centers.

According to Punch, this was revealed by JAMB’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, during an interview on Monday, where he listed these reasons and urged candidates to thoroughly check their results.

Benjamin said, “We have released results for this batch. There are many factors that can lead to a result being withheld. It could be as a result of examination malpractice, the candidate’s inability to conduct himself or herself properly, a breach in procedural process or a review of the centre.”

JAMB had earlier in its bulletin vowed to withhold the results of candidates found guilty of malpractices.

The bulletin partly reads, “About 1.4 million candidates have so far taken the examination across the nation, with some examination towns and centres completing their own allotted number of candidates for the year while the results of sessions already taken will be released to the respective candidates.

“However, the release of these results is with a caveat that after previewing the Closed Circuit Television footage of the conduct of the examination, the result of any candidate found wanting would be withdrawn if it had been released or withheld if not yet released.”

Recall that JAMB announced the release of the results of candidates who sat for the recently concluded 2022 UTME on Saturday, May 14, 2022, saying that it had not uploaded the results to its website for obvious reasons and as such advised on the process for checking the results.

In his statement, Benjamin stated that candidates could check their results using the SMS code, advising them to text UTMERESULT to 55019 to have their results checked.

According to reports, approximately 1.7 million candidates nationwide took the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in 755 registered computer-based centers.
