A bill seeking to provide automatic employment for graduates after their NYSC program has been introduced by Eta Mbora, a federal lawmaker in the House of Representatives.
The bill which scaled first reading in the House on Thursday, February 20, seeks to amend the NYSC Act to enable the military, paramilitary agencies and other special services recruit willing graduates immediately after they have completed the one-year youth service scheme.

The PDP lawmaker who represents Calabar Municipal/Odukpani federal constituency of Cross River state noted that the bill will allow graduates who have completed their NYSC program and meet the requirements of agencies to get employed.
Meanwhile, the NYSC management has responded to claims of redeployment exercise on fraudulent websites online which is been circulated by mischief-makers, PR Nigeria reports.
Emmanuel Attah, the NYSC coordinator, southwest area office, in a statement, debunked the purported exercise that is aimed at deceiving and extorting prospective corps members in the hopes of getting a preferred state for service. In a report by Leadership, NYSC raised an alarm over online adverts with the title “Henroozy Koncept” claiming to specialize in deployment and redeployment of corps members to states of their choice and posting to organizations.
NYSC in the statement signed by Attah warned prospective corps members and their parents to be careful of such websites and disregard adverts, saying the scheme alone has the authority to deploy and redeploy. Attah further explained that the scheme’s national headquarters in Abuja has launched an investigation to fish out the culprits behind the scam. In another report, Nigeria’s president, Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, February 6, said some persons who reside in Victoria Island in Lagos have never visited Ikeja area of the state.
Buhari made the statement at the presidential villa when highlighting the importance of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) program, Channels TV reported. The president told some corps members, who had come to thank him for increasing their monthly allowance from N19,800 to N33,000 that the program had enabled Nigerians to travel to places they ordinarily would not have visited.
President Buhari said a former military head of state, Yakubu Gowon deserves commendation for introducing the NYSC as a means of uniting Nigeria.
