Nigerian Man Remanded For Defiling 12-year-old Stepdaughter In Lagos
A 29-year-old man identified as Ugochukwu Okafor has been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre by an Ogudu Magistrates ’ Court on Thursday for allegedly molesting his 12-year-old stepdaughter.
The Prosecution Counsel , Insp Donjour Perezi , told the court that Okafor committed the offence sometime in 2021 , in his residence at Oworonshoki . He said that the defendant defiled his 12- year-old stepdaughter . The police said that the matter was reported at the Domestic and Sexual Violence Response Agency , Alausa . He said that Okafor s3xually abused his stepdaughter twice and her mother , who is aware and even caught her husband red-handed once , refused to take any legal action.
The police charged Okafor with one count of defilement . The Magistrate , Mrs M.O . Tanimola, declined to take Okafor ’s plea , ordering the police to send the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions ( DPP ) for legal advice . She then adjourned the case until May 12 for DPP advice .
According to the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State , 2005 , defilement attracts life imprisonment .
