For The First Time Since Nigeria’s Twitter Ban, President Buhari Returns To The Platform

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to the microblogging site Twitter, 11 months after he stopped tweeting due to the platform’s ban.

 

After the president’s remarks were erased by Twitter, the Buhari administration banned the platform, vowing to treat members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the “language they understand.”

The ban was announced on June 4, 2021, and it was removed seven months later on January 13, 2022.

Following the ban, the President ceased using Twitter to communicate with citizens.

Buhari didn’t return to the platform until Monday, May 2, after the ban was removed and several lawmakers and their aides returned.Before tweeting today, his last tweet was on June 1, 2021.
