Flamingos Face Japan as Nigeria Chases Historic U-17 Women’s World Cup Title

Nigeria’s Flamingos will face Japan in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Rabat, Morocco, on Saturday evening.

The Nigerian team reached the final by defeating Brazil 3–1 in the semi-final, becoming the first African side to reach the deciding match in the competition’s history.

A chance to make African football history

The final is scheduled for 18:30 local time and GMT. Victory would make Nigeria the first African country to win FIFA World Cups in both the men’s and women’s U-17 categories.

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets have won the men’s U-17 World Cup five times. The Flamingos’ previous best finish in the women’s competition was third place in 2022.

Japan, known as the Little Nadeshiko, will present a demanding test. The final brings together two technically strong teams and offers Nigeria an opportunity to turn a breakthrough tournament into a world title.

Support from CAF and Nigeria

CAF President Patrice Motsepe congratulated the Flamingos and said he would attend the final. President Bola Tinubu also praised the team and urged the players to remain focused and confident.

MBTV will update this report after the final result. Until the match is completed, claims that Nigeria has already won the trophy are incorrect.
