Duro Onabule, a former spokesman for Babangida, has died.

Ibrahim Babangida’s longtime spokesman, Duro Onabule, died at the age of 83.

The renowned journalist passed away on Tuesday, a few hours before Babangida turned 81.

According to The Guardian, Onabule’s death was revealed by Eric Teniola, a close friend of the family.

From 1984 to 1985, Onabule served as the national editor of National Concord before being named Babangida’s principal press secretary.

As of the date of publication, there was no information on what caused his death.
