The Assistant Director of the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA), Mr Christopher Orji, has reportedly committed suicide at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

Sources within NABDA disclosed that police homicide detectives in the FCT were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 59-year-old Orji.

GIOTV further learnt that the late NABDA Assistant Director had been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to report at its Abuja office on the day he was found dead. While reacting to the death of Orji, one of the staff of the agency, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the NABDA Assistant Director could not have killed himself as no suicide note was found at his residence.

Also, NABDA’s Acting Head of Communications and Protocol, Nkiru Amakeze, when contacted, declined comment. GIOTV reports that Orji was until his death the NABDA’s Bioresource Centre coordinator in Langtang, Plateau State.

It was gathered that the lifeless body of the government official was found dangling with a rope tied to a ceiling fan at his residence at Federal Housing Authority Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, on August 30, 2021.
