The warrior chief of Yorubaland, the Aare Ona Kakanfo, Gani Adams is said not to be taking it lightly with critics of Operation Amotekun, the security initiative created by the governors of the Southwest on January 9.

A report by Vanguard newspaper claimed that the former leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, told the audience at a southwest security summit at The Grand Place event centre in Osogbo, Osun state capital on Friday, January 31 those working against Amotekun will die suddenly.

Adams noted that the southwest would not allow the initiative to die rather those fighting for its death would die suddenly.

He revealed further that the people of the southwest are behind the initiative and the governors who created it and so it was a popular movement that must stay.

“As you have seen events unfolding in recent times that the people of the southwest are behind the governors on the Amotekun project. Whoever opposes it would die mysteriously and the gods of Yorubaland would soon visit its wrath on its betrayers.”

Earlier, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and Gani Adams, threw their weights behind the immediate legislation of Operation Amotekun.

The duo spoke at the 2020 edition of the Oodua festival in Ile-Ife, Osun state.

The foremost monarch, however, admonished southwest legislatures in their respective states to fast track the process that would make Amotekun lawful and achievable.

Our correspondent also reported that the leadership of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has made a u-turn on the establishment of Western Nigeria Security Network code-named Amotekun by the governor of the southwest region.
