Another traditional ruler Onijeru, dies in Oyo

According to the Daily Post, a traditional ruler in Oyo State, the Onijeru of Ijeru land in the state’s Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, Oba Elijah Popoola, has died.

Oba Popoola died on Friday at the age of 85 after a brief illness.

It was learned that the monarch ascended to the throne in 2008.

Seven traditional rulers of the state have joined their ancestors in the last six months.

The Onigbeti, Soun of Ogbomoso, Olubadan of Ibadan land, and Alaafin of Oyo are among the prominent traditional rulers who have joined their ancestors in the state in the last six months.

Oba Lasisi Adeoye Lawuyi Aribiyan, the Asigangan of Igangan in the Ibarapa North local government area, also died.

Oba Saliu Adetunji, the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan land, died on January 2nd, 2022, at the age of 93.

Another monarch, Oba Gabriel Adepoju, joined his ancestors on January 31, 2022. Oba Adepoju was the Oloko of Oko Ile in the state’s Oriire Local Government Area until his death.

Oba Abdulyekeen Ayinla Oladipupo, the Onikoyi of Ikoyi-Ile in the state’s Oriire Local Government Area, joined his ancestors on April 8th, 2022.
