Rotimi Amaechi, a former transportation minister and governor of the state of Rivers, has urged his followers to back the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections.
After arriving in Rivers State on Saturday, Amaechi made this statement.
He told angry party members who had backed him to win the APC presidential primary that they should still support the party despite their ire.
“Please, in the contest for the presidency, we should know that we should vote for our party, no matter how angry you are.
“Forget the stories you’re hearing; forget about those gossiping about a meeting in France. Let this place be your own France. Vote for your party,” Amaechi said.
Amaechi lost out to the National Leader of the ruling party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, during the primary.
