Adedeji Olajide, representing Ibadan Northwest/Southwest, said based on popular demand, he has chosen to empower the people of his constituency with goats and cash gifts.

Adedeji was heavily criticized on social media after he distributed the cash and goat.

According to him, his empowerment was based on popular demand.

Adedeji opines that the widows aged between 55 and 60 years said they wanted the goats because it would make them financially stable since the she-goats are a special breed and can produce about three and four off-spring twice in a year.

He further explained that the empowerment program is in conjunction with the Department of Animal Husbandry Service, Federal Ministry of Agriculture, and Rural Development.

The Oyo state lawmaker says he has previously provided the residents with skills before gifting them goats and cash.

He said,
“We carefully selected the participants have identified their area of interest and needs.

“It is also worthy to state that this project was facilitated based on requests, as I have always promised that any request from my constituents shall be given high consideration, and within my capability/capacity, it shall be done.”
