The Assistant Inspector General of Police in Zone Six, Jonathan Towuru, has disclosed that the current insecurity narrative in parts of the country will soon be reversed.

In an interview in his office, where he decorated 10 newly promoted Deputy Superintendents of Police, DSP, Towuru said everyone will see the turnaround as the police hierarchy and the Federal Government have effectively strategized.

“There’s bigger hope in this country than previously in terms of security. Everyone will see a turnaround. We’ll reverse the insecurity narratives. I can assure you. There’s no cause for alarm,” he said.

In his zone, he said he has good collaboration with sister security agencies, adding that his two commissioners of police in the two-component states, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States, as well as Deputy Inspectors General of Police in the South-South have synergies with other service commanders, which helps to stem tides of criminality.

He disclosed that they have recorded successes in the zone.

“The situation is not as bad as people project it. The two governors have been very cooperative, and displayed levels of commitment and encouragement,” he said.

He commended his personnel for their commitment, appealing to the public to always volunteer confidential information about crimes to them.

One of the newly promoted DSP, Egomi Egomi, the second in command in the zonal X-Squad commended the authorities for their promotion.

He said the promotion is a morale booster which comes with higher responsibility.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. We’re going to perform better than before in terms of crime fighting,” Egomi said.
