A Federal Commissioner of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Honourable Johnson Agbonayinma has lamented the historical obstruction of progress by certain individuals and highlighted the hindrance faced by the Code of Conduct Bureau in its effective functioning.
He mentioned specific investigations into individuals like Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank, and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, accusing them of embezzling trillions and billions, respectively.
Expressing frustration over the lack of visible outcomes from these investigations, he urged the Nigerian people to question the status of these cases. He conveyed deep concern for the country’s state and called on the new leadership to cleanse government agencies, including EFCC, ICPC, Code of Conduct Bureau, Police, and DSS, to fulfill their mandates and unlock Nigeria’s potential wealth from abundant mineral resources.
He said in an interview with TVC, ”There are some people that tried to delay the wheel of progress in this country. It didn’t start today. For the Code of Conduct Bureau not being able to work effectively, it’s because some cabal doesn’t want us to work. We investigated Emefiele for trillions that he stole, we investigated the humanitarian minister for the billions that belong to Nigerians that were taken away.
What happened to those investigations? These are the questions that we must ask our dear people. I’m sick and I’m weeping for this country. And I’m praying that Mr. President, the new sheriff in town must clean the house and set every agency to go out and do their mandate. EFCC, ICPC, Code of Conduct Bureau, Police, DSS. Nigeria should be swimming in Blessings, God has blessed this country with mineral resources but we have been our worst enemy.”
