Veteran Broadcaster, Timawus Mathias, Is Dead

Veteran broadcaster and writer, Timawus Mathias, has passed on at 73.

A family member, Jiji Mathias, made the announcement in a Facebook post today, September 9, 2022.

His death followed protracted ill-health.

He recently came out of a 5-week coma in August and took to Facebook to share the news of his ill-health and miraculous recovery.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, and one daughter.

Mathias was born on 5th December 1948. He started out as a broadcaster with the Nigerian Television Authority Yola before going into private practice in the media space spanning over five decades.

In 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari celebrated Mathias on his 70th birthday.
