Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have kidnapped the Eleda of Eda Ile, Oba Benjamin Oso, in Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

The monarch was said to have been kidnapped in the presence of his wife on their farm at Eda Ile on Friday evening.

This happened barely two months after the Obaadu of Ilemeso, Oba David Oyewumi, was abducted by gunmen in Oye Local Government Area.

A source who craved anonymity told newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday that the monarch and his wife would have been kidnapped, but that the monarch pleaded with them to spare her.

The source explained that,
“The oba and his wife went to farm and were accosted by the gunmen. Both of them would have been kidnapped, but the monarch begged the bandits to free his wife and they agreed.”

The Commander of the Ekiti State Security Network, Amotekun, Brig Gen Joe Komolafe (Rtd), confirmed the abduction, saying all the security outfits in Ekiti, including police, soldiers, Amotekun, hunters and vigilante groups had been in the forests searching for the monarch.
