Two Nigerians were burnt beyond recognition under mysterious circumstances at their rented apartment in north Delhi’s Burari area in India.

This was disclosed by the police on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.

According to India Today, the incident happened when the victims and two of their women friends were making drug paraphernalia.

The explosion occurred when a chemical was added to the drug, resulting in the house being engulfed in fire, the publication reported.

One of them was identified as Christian Ifeanyichukwu, but the other deceased is yet to be identified, police said.

Police said two women, Kristen and Kambri, along with the victims had come to live in a house on rent on February 10, 2024.

The visas of Kristen and Kambri had expired in December last year.

The victims were admitted to AIIMS by a group of people, who were stated to be their friends, on February 23. But the friends fled after leaving them in the hospital, a police officer was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.

Investigation revealed that the owner of the house, Nafees, had a house in Bengali Colony and a Nigerian got the victims to meet Nafees, who gave him the house on rent in Burari, which is situated in a deserted place.

The police registered a case of negligent death and began investigating the matter.

The police were scanning the CCTV footage of the incident and informed the Nigerian Embassy about it.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
