Two young kidnappers today met their Waterloo at Erusu Akoko while trying to snatch a three-year-old baby from her mother into a waiting vehicle, as they were caught by the people of the community.
According to eyewitnesses, the mother of the child was struggling with the two men in an attempt to run away with the baby.
She raised her voice for help before the residents of Aga quarters, in the town, trooped out to assist the victim and the mother from the kidnappers.
However, the bandits were beaten to stupor and stripped naked by the embittered crowd for what they described as a bad omen in the town.
The monarch of the ancient town, Oba Sunday Mogaji, intervened and pleaded with his people not to involve in jungle justice.
Police from Okeagbe Division were, later invited to arrest the two suspects.
It was gathered that the two suspects who were kept in police custody at Okeagbe after preliminary investigation are from the neighboring towns of Oyin and Erusu but reside in Okeagbe Akoko.
When contacted, the police area commander of the area Assistant Commissioner of Police, Razak Rauf confirmed that the case has been transferred to state CID Akure.
