The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra State said it has recovered two corpses from the rubble of the bus that went up in flames on Sunday along Ihiala- Onitsha road in the state.

The vehicle reportedly caught fire after somersaulting several following tyre burst, leaving the entire passengers burnt beyond recognition.

The corpse of the only male adult who jumped out of the vehicle in the process had been deposited at the mortuary.

Ag. Public Education Officer of the Cop Kamal Musa in a statement said the corpse has been deposited at the morgue, bringing the total number of recovered corpses to two adults.

He added that further search into the FRSC database revealed the vehicle was Toyota Sequoia and not a bus as earlier reported.

He said, “The rubble of the burnt vehicle was towed out of road today 07/09/2020. In the process, an adult corpse burnt beyond recognition was found and deposited at the Mogue in Our lady of Lourdes, bringing the total number of people on board to two adults.

“Two different number plates were found under the burnt vehicle (1) ABJ 164 PY (2) CA 33 FST, and further search into FRSC database revealed that ABJ 164 PY was registered with a vehicle make: Toyota, vehicle Model: Sequoia.”
