TRAGEDY!! Kaduna Lecturer Commits Suicide After Shooting Wife

A former Principal Lecturer with the Department of Languages, Kaduna Polytechnic, Austin Umera, has committed suicide at his residence on Kigo Road, Kaduna State.

The lecturer shot his wife, Dr. Maurin, a part-time lecturer in the Department of Languages, Kaduna State University (KASU), before killing himself.

She is currently receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

It was gathered that the incident happened about 10 am yesterday.

The body has been deposited at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Police spokesman Muhammad Jalige said a locally-made pistol was recovered from the scene. He added that investigation has begun.

GioTV could not ascertain the cause of the problem which led to such action as committing murder as at the time of filing this report.

Speaking with the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna Police Command, Mohammed Jalige, he disclosed that the report of the incident just got to him and promised to get back to us after speaking with the DPO of the area.
