At least three persons have been killed, while over 51 others, including a district head, were kidnapped by bandits in parts of Zamfara State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday when the armed men invaded Bagega, a mining village in the state, and shot sporadically, leading to the death of the three villagers.

Efforts to reach the police command failed as the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yazid Abubakar, did not pick up his calls as of the time of filing this report.

However, the Village Head, Malam Abubakar Uba, confirmed the development to Reuters, saying the gunmen kidnapped the district head before proceeding to kidnap dozens of others in the village.

“They stormed the village on dozens of motorcycles, and their first stop was the District’s Head residence.

“A few of them took him away with three members of his household before they entered the town and unleashed more harm”, Uba stated.
