Foremost rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner and Sahara Reporters publisher Omoyele Sowore has slammed Punch Newspapers for publishing a fake report on the court ruling instigated by Mountain and Fire Miracle Ministries, MFM, General Overseer, D.K Olukoya against UK based activist and blogger Maureen Badejo.

The Punch Newspapers had earlier published a purported and spurious court judgement delivered by one Justice Abiodun Akinyemi of an Ogun State court in Abeokuta which fraudulently awarded a N500m damages to MFM and Olukoya against Maureen Badejo for a so called “libel” without summons to the defendant.

Sowore said;

“Punch Newspapers is supposed to be one of Nigeria’s best newspapers but anytime you have religious nut jobs as editors, that paper is doomed.

“How could this fake ass report even pass through the newsroom? This man (D.K Olukoya) funds Nigerian newspapers to make people feel he won a case.

“A case in which the defendant in the case was never even served the summons and here is Punch celebrating injustice against a blogger…shame! Beyond this, here is a powerful “man of God” who can’t even wait for God to fight his own battles, he had to go to an Ogun state judge to help fight his adversary.

“For proper disclosures, pastor Olukoya sued me too in three courts in Akwa Ibom state, all the cases were dismissed courtesy of Barrister Inibehe Effiong and next he went to the US to sue, we are still in court there.

“It is so sad how poor people’s tithes and offerings are used to protect the reputation of man who tells you to pray when your stomach is assaulted with hunger!.. Sowore added.
