The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, met with England’s Queen Camilla at the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition Awards Ceremony.
Sanwo-Olu was accompanied by his wife, Ibijoke, according to photos shared on the governor’s Facebook page on Friday.
The photos were captioned, “My wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and I were guests of Her Majesty The Queen, Camilla at the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2023 Award Ceremony, a celebration of 140 years of championing the voices of youth, literacy, and creativity across the Commonwealth.
“This year, Lagos State’s participation and support saw a remarkable surge in entries to a record-breaking 34,924 from 50 Commonwealth countries; a testament to our commitment to nurturing creativity and expression in our youth.
“Speaking at the event, I emphasized the paramount importance of literacy and empowering young minds.
“Grateful to the Royal Commonwealth Society and Her Majesty for their acknowledgement and looking forward to celebrating the winners’ incredible achievements.”
