The young footballer Tiyamiyu Kazeem, Remo Stars FC player, murdered by an operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has been laid to rest.

Kaka, as he was fondly called, was buried in Ajaka, Sagamu in Ogun state.

Photos from the sad event were shared on the Nigerian National League (NNL) club side Twitter handle on Thursday.

The deceased was killed by a police officer after he was said to have been mistaken for an internet fraudster.

However, police in their report claimed that the late footballer was knocked down by a hit-and-run driver while trying to escape after he had been arrested.

But his teammate, Sanni Abubakar, who was present at the time the incident occurred, said that Kazeem was pushed out of the vehicle and knocked down by an oncoming vehicle.

The SARS official that fingered in the murder has reportedly been dismissed from the police force.
