A man identified as Sulaimon Habeeb has been arrested in Kogi with a car stolen from Ekiti state.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, Ekiti police command’s spokesperson, DSP Sunday Abutu, said that on December 18, at about 0800 hours, the command received a distress call about a Toyota Corolla car stolen at the GRA in Ado-Ekiti.
The Anti-Vehicle Theft Section (AVTS) of the state CID, traced the vehicle to Iyamoye in Kogi State, where the suspect was arrested with it.
Abutu said;
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the crime and said he had been into car theft operations since 2021.
“The suspect also stated that he operated majorly in Ekiti, Kogi, and Kano while his major buyers are from Abuja, Kaduna, and Kano.”
Exhibits recovered include a Toyota Corolla, one Toyota Yaris, three master keys for Toyota, Hyundai, and Honda cars, respectively, and two Samsung phones.
