Photos: Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Orders ‘Shoot At Sight’ At Protesting Ilaje Youths

Youths from Ilaje Local Government who thronged the Ondo State governor’s office early this morning to protest alleged diversion of funds meant for the development of the coastal area by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu led administration, were reportedly injured and battered by security operatives at the government secretariat in Akure, the Ondo State Capital.

Ojamomi Fadeshola (esq) who spoke to Starnews correspondent said they were peacefully protesting for Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC’s) Financial and Administrative Autonomy at the governor’s office when the governor allegedly ordered the police to shoot at sight according to him.

He told Starnews that affected protesters have been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

Starnews reports on Monday that youths, under the aegis of Ilaje Youths Congress (IYC) barricaded the governor’s office to protest OSOPADEC’s autonomy over allegation that the commission’s fund meant for the development of the oil communities are being diverted by the state government.
