On Tuesday morning, June 28, members of the staff of the Abeokuta General Hospital in Ogun state locked the hospital’s entrance gate, preventing doctors and patients from entering.

The disgruntled employees joined other state employees in an indefinite strike over claims that the state government has refused to pay their 21-month salary deductions. They started the strike today after a seven-day warning strike.

Workers are also demanding that the state pension laws and processes be reviewed, as well as access to loans such as car and housing loans.

photos shared online showed sick patients brought to the hospital lying on the ground outside the hospital.
