Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, addressed why Jesus and His apostles did not collect tithes during the October edition of the RCCG Holy Ghost Service.

He responded to an unnamed pastor’s sermon against tithing, which claimed Jesus never collected tithes.

Adeboye noted, “Jesus was not a parish pastor; He was a world evangelist,” emphasizing that the sermon was a repetition of shallow arguments.

He pointed out that, as stated in Luke 8:1-3, women like Mary Magdalene, Joanna, and Susanna financially supported Jesus’ ministry.

He further explained that the apostles also did not collect tithes, as their ministries were not comparable to those of local church leaders.

Adeboye cautioned against gathering women solely for financial support, warning that such practices could lead to moral pitfalls if not managed properly.
