GIOTV reports that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye lamented the increasing state of violent attacks and corruption in the country.
Pastor Adeboye blamed Nigerian leaders for the hardship being experienced by the citizens.
The religious leader spoke during a seven-day fasting and prayer session organized for members of his congregation.
Pastor Adeboye lamented the rising cost of diesel in Nigeria despite being an oil-producing nation.
He said: “We are living in a country, one of the biggest oil-producing countries in the world and from what we read in newspapers, the cost of diesel had multiplied for about three times in less than a year.”
While praying, he stressed that the level of corruption in Nigeria is alarming, and it has aided covetousness.
“Covetousness is on the increase, corruption like the whole world has never seen before. It’s only in Nigeria we hear of the budget being padded, violent, human trafficking, drug trafficking, you even wonder if our rulers knew what’s going on,” Pastor Adeboye said.
He urged the congregation to cry to God for mercy upon the country and ask for forgiveness for all the wrongdoing in the nation.
He said, “Theft of national treasuries on a level that causes you to shiver. It is even difficult now to buy bread. Let’s cry to God as representatives of our nation and ask for mercy, that we are sorry for all our wrong doing.”
