One person has been confirmed dead while five others injured by stray bullets on Tuesday morning during a clash between men of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) and some youth in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
It was gathered that the incident happened at the Kikelomo area in Ayetoro on Tuesday, December 22, after customs officials stormed the community following a tip-off on smuggling activities.
The stray bullets were allegedly fired by the customs officers while trying to evacuate alleged smuggled bags of rice.
One of the victims identified as Sola was hit and killed while driving his motorcycle around the Social Club area of Kikelomo.
Confirming the incident, Head of News at Fresh 105.9 FM, Ibadan, Samson Akindele, said the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told him that at least five persons have been injured in the clash.
