A popular Hausa skit maker, Kamal Iliyasu, who is better known as Kamal Aboki, has died.

According to BBC Pidgin, the comedian died in a car crash on his way from Borno to Kano state on Monday.

Kamal was a viral sensation on TikTok where he commands huge following.

He started pulling the weight of fame after his Hausa-themed skits surfaced online.

Speaking on his death, Usman, his elder brother, said their mother had premonition that something bad would happen to the skit maker on Monday.

“Kamal travelled to Maiduguri three days ago for an album launch. He was on his way back to Kano when the unfortunate incident happened to him,” said.

“On Monday, my mother asked me to call him. I did that around 5pm and he told us he was already inside a vehicle to Kano. Then, my mother started feeling somehow.

“Later, somebody called me and asked if I had someone travelling from Maiduguri to Kano, and I told the person yes. It was at that point the caller broke news of what happened to me.”

Usman said Kamal’s death has left his family unsettled, adding that he will be greatly missed.

“Kamal is one of the nicest persons in the world. He is always joking and playing with people. Everyone will miss him,” he added.
