Justice Elias Abua of the Cross River State High Court in Calabar has sentenced two former bankers to three months in prison each.
Titus Chima Nwankwo and Utibe-Abasi Ifiok George are the defendants.
They were convicted of stealing N2,900,000 from the account of Godfried Francis Osso, a deceased customer.
The two had previously pled guilty to counts of forgery, conspiracy, breach of trust, and stealing.
They were charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s Uyo Zonal Command (EFCC).
Following their plea, prosecution attorney Joshua Abolarin asked the court to render a verdict in their favor.
George was found guilty and sentenced to three months in prison, with the possibility of a N100,000 fine.Nwankwo also bagged three months imprisonment with an option of a N50,000 fine.
