The government of Niger Republic has reopened its border in Konni for operations today March 22.

This comes one week after the authorities of Nigeria Customs Service following the directive of the Presidency opened the Illela land border between Nigeria and Niger Republic.

The border was declared open at exactly noon on Friday.

Recall that recently, the Nigeria Customs Service in complying with the federal government directives has reopened all land and air borders across northern states and the country, more recently the reopening of the konni-illegal border in Sokoto State to facilitate lawful trade between the two countries.

Members of the Economic Community of West African States closed their borders with Niger after the July 26, 2023 coup. The sanctions placed on them were however lifted in February this year.
