Nigeria’s former minister of finance, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has taken to her twitter page to apologize to Nigerians for posting a fake picture about Rwanda.
She earlier posted a food distribution picture and credited it to Rwanda’s president, Paul. However, Twitter users called her attention to it, noting that it’s actually from Gambia.
“Responsible food distribution with social distancing to assist lower-income households in #Covid19 era! A great example from #Rwanda where community workers also distribute food and other necessities door-to-door @PaulKagame” She earlier tweeted
After her attention was called out and she was corrected that it was from Gambia, she wrote:
“Thanks to those who have drawn my attention to the food distribution picture I tweeted earlier today. A friend sent it to me that it’s from Rwanda. Whether Gambia or Rwanda, the point I want us to focus on is that it is a safe way of handling food distribution.”
