The Refereeing Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has expelled centre referee Zaharaudeen Nasiru from officiating in the Nigeria National League, NNL.
Nasiru’s sacking was necessitated following his poor officiating in the matchday 17 encounter between Jigawa Golden Stars and Sporting Supreme.
He awarded a goal that had been scored through a handball in favour of Jigawa Golden Stars.
Jigawa Golden Stars eventually won the game 2-1 in Dutse.
The memo reads: “In view of your decision taken in your Week 17 match involving Jigawa Golden Stars and Sporting Supreme wherein your action brought referring and the game in Nigeria into disrepute. I am directed to notify you that you have been expelled with immediate effect from the league and referring generally.”
The referee body also expelled his assistant, Usman Auwalu.
Their sacking takes immediate effect.
The NFF has clamped down on poor officiating in the NNL this season, sanctioning erring match officials.
