The counsel to Adegbola Abdulazeez, an Isese (indigenous religion) practitioner and activist, also known as Tani Olohun, Adedamola Solesi has described the new criminal charges brought against his client as a breach of court process.

Adedamola mentioned this to SaharaReporters, while reacting to the three fresh defamation charges slammed on his client by another Islamic Cleric, Alfa Labeeb Lagbaji in another Kwara Magistrates Court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital.

In the document written by counsel, Taofiq Olateju on behalf of Lagbaji, Tani Olohun was alleged to have used social media – Facebook and YouTube to blackmail his client.

Tani Olohun, according to Olateju, utilised social media to blackmail and discredit Labeeb.

He further stated that Tani Olohun posted on social media that Labeeb took advantage of a mentally ill woman who was brought to him for healing and had carnal knowledge of her in an unfinished building, In his reaction, Tani Olohun’s claim the new charges substantiated his stand that his client could not get justice in the Kwara Judicial Division.

He said, “It corroborates my earlier observation that there’s a gang up against him in Ilorin and he can’t get justice there.

“When the family resorted to begging, I kept my distance because this people cannot be trusted. The new charge is obviously a blatant abuse and misuse of the process of court to achieve a sinister agenda.

“Labeeb Lagbaji, being a member of Sons and Daughter of Ilorin Association which brought a similar charge before the Magistrate Court can’t bring another individual charge on the same allegation of Defamation. This is a big ruse,” he added.
