LBanks in Lagos have been attacked by some hoodlums.

GIOTV reported that the attacks took place in the Epe area of Lagos.

According to the report, hoodlums are using the naira crisis as an opportunity to attack banks in the area.

A source who lives in the Epe area said the banks attacked were; Zenith, Access and Keystone banks.

Pictures have also emerged online showing banks in the area with broken glasses. It was gathered that many banks have temporarily suspended operations in the area as a result of the attacks.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, also confirmed the attacks on some banks in the area.

He said, “Three banks were attacked in Epe but our men are already on the ground,”

Giotv had earlier reported on Friday morning that fighting erupted in some areas on the popular Lagos-Ikorodu Expressway in Lagos State over the scarcity of the new naira notes and the hardship the policy had thrown at Nigerians.

It was gathered that suspected louts in Mile 12, Ketu and Ojota areas on the expressway took to the streets attacking commuters and creating chaos.

Also, it was reported that pockets of protests had broken out in Agege, Iyana-Ipaja and Igando areas of the state over the naira crisis.
