A Lagos federal high court has granted permission to former governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose to seek medical treatment abroad.
C.J. Aneke, the judge, granted the permission on Friday following an application by Ola Olanipekun, Fayose’s counsel.
The former governor is being tried by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N2.2 billion fraud.
He was earlier granted medical-trip permits in July and in December 2019.
In the latter trip, Fayose stirred controversy after he was seen dancing salsa and posing for pictures at a relaxation spot when he was supposed to be receiving medical care.
He reacted to the controversy by saying he was on ”medical check-up, not admission”.
The recent application was not opposed by Rotimi Jacobs, prosecuting counsel of the EFCC.
The judge adjourned further hearing in the case till January 22, 2021.
