Man Apprehended For Physically Abusing 9-year-old Niece In Anambra

The Anambra state police command has arrested a 40-year-old man identified as Hillary Apeh for reportedly abusing his niece at his residence in Maryland Estates, 3-3 Onitsha. 

The little girl whose name was given as Chioma Ogbu had wounds and scars all over her body, reportedly inflicted by the suspect. 

Anambra state police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed said the suspect confessed to inflicting injuries on his 9-year-old niece over repeated delay when sent on an errand. The victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment. 

Haruna said; 

“On the 14/6/2020 at about 10:am, police operatives attached to 3-3 Police Station Onitsha arrested one Hillary Apeh ‘m’ aged 40 years of Maryland Estates 3-3 Onitsha.

“Suspect brutally assaulted his niece one Chioma Ogbu ‘f’ aged 9 years of the same address and inflicted several wounds on her body.

“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect had on several occasions physically abused the victim who has scars all over her body.

“Victim was taken to the hospital for treatment while the investigation is ongoing after which suspect would be brought to book.”

The suspect will be charged to court after the investigation has been concluded.
