Three National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have been refunded N1 million, which was allegedly extorted by four police officers in the Surulere area of Lagos State.
The officers reportedly demanded the money after the corps members were unable to provide a physical copy of their driver’s licence.
The incident came to light after social media user, Oluyemi Fasipe, shared details on X, stating that one of the corps members was also forced to transfer Bitcoin worth $842 to the officers.
Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the case, stating that the officers involved had been identified and were currently undergoing interrogation.
In a tweet on Friday, October 4, Fasipe confirmed the refund, adding, “The rogue men of the Area C command of the Lagos Police have refunded the N1 million. I am patiently waiting for the outcome of their trial.”
