Kidnap Kingpin John Lyon To Be Arraign Today

The Bayelsa state police command will on Wednesday, November 30, arraigned kidnap kingpin, John Ewa (Lyon), who was arrested in September this year.

According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Asinim Butswat, John Lyon and his cohorts will be arraigned in High Court 6, Yenagoa, today.

“John Ewa ‘aka’ John Lyon and others will be arraigned in High Court 6, Yenagoa, today 30 November 2022, by 0900 hours.”

Lyon who was popular for flaunting dollars on social media, confessed to his involvement in two kidnap incidents.

30-year-old Lyon who is from Akwagom-Eruan Community in Boki LGA of Cross River State was arrested alongside his gang leader, Emmanuel Angase,

While confessing to the crime, John Lyon claimed that his friends (the kidnap gang) asked him to give them the address of his former boss, Danjuma Omeje, and that a few days later, they kidnapped Omeje and collected a ransom of N45 million from him.

He said that after the operation they gave him N1.5 million as assistance to take care of the medical bills of his sick mother in the hospital.

“I also gave them the address of one Akeem Olushola, who they also kidnapped and collected N80 million as ransom. After that operation they gave me N3.5 million,” he said
