Katsina Police Arrest Corps Member Over Alleged Rape

The police in Katsina on Tuesday, arrested and detained a serving corps member in katsina for allegedly raping a student in the secondary school he is doing his primary assignment.

The corps member whose identity was not revealed is being detained at the Sabon-Garin police station, Katsina.

The spokesman for the Katsina police command, SP Gambo Isah confirmed the development but said the police were still awaiting the medical report to firmly establish the allegation.

He said” Yes, the boy has been arrested. But we are still awaiting the outcome of our investigation and the medical report to firmly establish the allegation.”

The NYSC Spokesman in Katsina, Mr. Alex Oboaemeta, however, denied the allegation, declaring that investigation was ongoing on the incident.

It was alleged that the victim who is a JSS one student at the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS), Katsina, made the allegation against the corps member, leading to his arrest.

It was learned that the girl alleged that the corps member committed the act when she visited him at the residence the school provides for serving corps members.

Sources further revealed that the school management and the NYSC authorities met on Monday to discuss the issue before police were invited on Tuesday.
