A Kano Sharia Court presided over by Justice Ibrahim Sarki Yola, has ordered the continued remand of Kano-based sheikh, Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara, in Kano Prison, till August 18, 2021.
The judge, who commenced hearing in the case between Sheikh Abduljabar Nasiru Kabara, and the State Government over alleged blasphemous statement against the Prophet of Islam, Wednesday, asked the prosecution counsels if they were ready with their evidence.
The prosecution counsels prayed for time to enable them to prepare their evidence, insisting that the only evidence in court is the Police First Information Report (FIR).
Counsel to the accused, Barrister Sale M Bagoro, had objected to the adjournment of the case without fully commencing the hearing, arguing that the state is deliberately prolonging the case.
However, Sarki Yola adjourned the case to enable the prosecution counsels to forward their evidence before the Sharia Court.
The court premises was taken over by armed mobile policemen and other internal security agents to avert any threats.
