The second COVID-19 patient in Ekiti state has recovered from the virus as the person tested negative twice, Governor Kayode Fayemi has disclosed.
The Ekiti state governor who made this known on Twitter on Thursday evening, April 9, added that the patient has been discharged from the state’s Infectious Disease Hospital on the same day.
Governor Fayemi expressed appreciation to the medical team that took care of the patient but noted that the war against the coronavirus pandemic is not finished yet and urged people of the state to continue to stay at home.
Our correspondent notes that the number of COVID-19 patients who have recovered in Ekiti is now two as the state’s index case has also been discharged.
This implies that Ekiti state does not have a currently active case of COVID-19.
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Thursday, April 9, confirmed 14 new cases of coronavirus infection in Nigeria.
The NCDC disclosed in a tweet that 13 of the new cases were confirmed in Lagos, while one case was detected in Delta state.
The agency stated that so far, 288 confirmed cases of COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria. It said out those cases 51 have been discharged with seven deaths.
