JUST IN: Bandits Kill 21 In Zamfara Village

Gunmen who struck in some villages in Maru and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas of Zamfara State left 21 people dead and 12 others injured. 

Spokesman of the state police command, Mohammed Shehu confirmed the attacks in Tungar Malan, Manyan Karaje, Tungar Arne, Dangodon Maiyakane, Dangodon Mai Masallaci and Boleke villages in Maru Local Government between the 2nd and 3rd of June, 2020. 

He said the bandits stormed the village with an intention of rustling cows and started shooting sporadically after being confronted by members of a militia group known as “YAN SAKAI”. This resulted in the death of 15 people and also left 7 people hospitalized over injuries they sustained. 

An attack in Gidan Dan Kani, Tungar lauti, Inwala, and Dangodo in Talata Mafara Local Government also resulted in the death of 6 persons who were coming back from a funeral prayer. 5 people were also hospitalized after the attack. 

Shehu added that an investigation has been launched to apprehend those behind the killings.
