Olusegun Falola, one of the attorneys for Yoruba freedom fighter Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Igboho, has revealed why the agitator was shackled by security agents in the Republic of Benin.

Falola revealed that Igboho was in chains to prevent him from mysteriously disappearing.

According to Falola, Beninese security officers learned that Igboho could turn into a cat and escape.

“When I arrived from Paris to the police custody where Igboho was being held, he was first shackled. They were afraid that he might just vanish into thin air because of his mystical powers.

“The police told me that if Igboho’s chains were untied and he mysteriously escaped, he (the policeman) would be stripped of his rank and also fired.

“The policeman said he was told that Igboho could disappear or turn into a cat, and a lot of other things were said to the policemen who forced them to tie him up,” he told Nation. The lawyer, however, revealed that his timely intervention led agents to unleash Igboho.

Igboho was recently arrested in Cotonou while attempting to travel to Germany.

The Yoruba nation freedom fighter fled Nigeria to Cotonou after being declared wanted by the State Services Department, DSS.

The DSS had said Igboho was wanted after weapons were found in his home in Ibadan, Oyo state.
