Amaarae, the popular Ghanaian-American singer, has opened up about her career and the hard times she faced.

She recounted how a show promoter once offered to pay her in the form of airtime to perform at his event.

She recently granted an interview with 3FM 92.7, Accra, Ghana.

Taking a trip down memory, the ‘Sad Girlz Luv Money’ crooner recalled how a platform offered her GH₵‎100 recharge card to perform at their event.

Amaarae said, “When I first started, people weren’t even trying to pay me at all. I actually remember; I’m not going to shame the platform but a platform that offered me credit, MTN credit to perform at their show.”

She, however, said years later after she blew up, the same platform paid her a huge amount of money to do a song for them.

Amaarae disclosed during the interview that she recently made two unreleased songs with Nigerian singer, Ruger.

She said she loves to collaborate because it allows her to showcase her diversity.
