The 2023 Labour Party, LP, presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, has said he promised to rebuild Nigeria and not to build a new party.

Obi made the remarks while speaking to Nigerians on the state of the nation.

Addressing Nigerians on X Space hosted by Parallel Facts on Friday.

He stressed the need for the right thing to be done to salvage the party, adding that he is more passionate about building a new Nigeria than building a new Labour Party.

“We promised to build Nigeria, we did not promise to build a New Labour Party,”

“It won’t be easy for them to rig our elections again.”

“If I tell you what I’m going through in the hands of government you will tell me why I’m not in the street shouting.”

Those who manipulated Nigeria’s situation today are not the people suffering. For instance, Politicians do not belong to 180 million people who do not have access to pipe-borne water.” Obi said.

He also threw his weight behind the call for a structure for the ‘Obidient’ movement.

“It is the standard practice around the world where movements form themselves into blocs and are part of the political process,” he added.

Also, the former Anambra governor spoke about the party’ convention and said it is time for consultations.

However, Abure was reelected during the controversial national convention organized in Anambra State.
