Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has hinted that he may run for president again in 2027 despite the Supreme Court’s verdict upholding the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election.

Speaking at a press briefing on Monday in Abuja, Atiku said: “I am not going to go away. If you think I am going to go away, forget about it. For as long as I breathe, I will continue to struggle with other Nigerians to deepen our democracy. I will continue to work for the return of political and economical restructuring that the country needs.”

Atiku, who, prior to the 2023 election, had lost five presidential elections, insisted that Tinubu was not qualified to contest the 2023 poll and accused the Supreme Court and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of supporting “illegality, identity theft, impersonation, forgery of certificates and perjury.”

He said that the Supreme Court’s judgment, while final, left “much to be desired.”

Recall that on Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal filed by Atiku against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

In a unanimous verdict, the court ruled that the appeal filed by Atiku lacked merit.

“On the whole, it is my view that there is no merit in this appeal,” Justice Inyang Okoro said.
