A student of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) Akoka, Lagos, has been shot dead by gunmen suspected to be cultists.

The student identified as Korede Paul was shot in the head around 10 pm on Thursday, September 15, 2022, in front of the Art complex.

A student of the institution said the guy was the second person murdered during this semester. Another student said a female student also sustained a gunshot and has been rushed to the hospital.

A student, Tayo Aina, said that she was behind the student when he was shot.

“I was going for night class because my final exam is tomorrow and the next thing I heard was a gunshot and the guy behind me fell. I can’t say exactly but they were about two to three guys who were standing and I could see one with a gun as I ran for safety,”

In a video seen on Twitter, the victim with a dreadlocks hairstyle wore a sky blue Jean and a black top. He was seen in a pool of blood.

The spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the killing.

“I just spoke with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO). It is confirmed. A man was killed. We’ll notify you once we get further information,” he said.
